Izu Ani

Fundamental Hospitality Group

Nigerian-born, London-bred chef Izu Ani is a defining figure in the Middle East's culinary scene, often hailed as Dubai's first celebrity chef. His journey began in school home economics. He honed his craft in Europe's top kitchens, including London's Michelin-starred The Square and Spain's world-renowned Mugaritz.

In 2010, his move to Dubai as opening head chef for La Petite Maison (LPM) marked his breakthrough. The UAE provided the creative freedom for him to co-found Fundamental Hospitality with partner Evgeny Kuzin, launching numerous home-grown concepts.

For Chef Izu, cooking is a philosophy—an expression of happiness to be shared. His creative signature is a unique cheesecake interpretation tailored to each restaurant. His diverse portfolio includes the upscale Greek restaurant Gaia, the French-inspired La Maison Ani and Shanghai Me, awarded by GreatList Guide.
